Hand Held Sawing
Description
Hand held sawing refers to portable saws that are fitted with diamond blades. They are used to cut straight lines into masonry products and leave a clean edge when completed.
Application
Hand held saws are used when square penetrations are required through masonry walls and floors. These applications may include and are not limited to:
- New door and window openings
- Electrical chasing and floor boxes
- Plumbing pipe trenches
- Expansion cutting into new concrete
- All forms of demolition
Depth
There are two types of hand held saws, the depths for each are as follows:
- Hand saws
- Cut to a maximum depth of 150mm deep
- Ring saws
- Cut to a maximum depth of 270mm deep
Types Of Handheld Saws

Petrol saws
- used for all outside works
- Hydraulic saw
- Used when there is poor ventilation where cutting are required.
- The hydraulic power pack that runs the hydraulic saw comes in two options.
- Petrol - When an outside area is available within 20 metres of the cutting location
- Electrical - When no outside areas are available to sit the power pack, 3 phase electrics are required
